Turfgrass Environmental Research

A respected presence in the Dallas, Texas, entrepreneurial sector, Fritz Frederick Eugene Mowery has been managing the finances of numerous clients for more than three decades through his company, Mowery Capital Management, LLC. In addition to his profession, Fritz Mowery is an enthusiastic golfer who maintains a 12 handicap with the United States Golf Association.

On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, the USGA renamed its Turfgrass Environmental Research Program to Mike David Program for Advancing Golf Course Management in honor of Mike Davis. For several years, the renamed initiative centered its activity around improving the on-course golfing experience.

Each year, the USGA invests roughly $2 million on the program to promote innovation to improve playing conditions and facilitate an environmentally-friendly game through best practices, such as standardization of green construction and reduced pesticide use. The funds also enable the incorporation of more natural areas on courses and also improved water management.
